The Race Is On

Around The Super 6 through Game 5 - (1/10/10) ... In 18 seasons, The Super 6 has never had an undefeated team. Correction: 19 seasons. Robert Montgomery U knocked off this year's last unbeaten team, Great Lakes Christian, 64-47 in Game 5. RMU coach Dennis Mockler, who had all but written this season off after losing Kevin Coble, suddenly finds his squad just one game out of first place in their quest for a regular season three-peat.

Oskee Wow-Wow started the season flat on its back. The Warriors lost their season opener after losing Evan Turner to injury, but OWW has gotten up off the hardwood and won four straight, including a Game 5 win over Superior Baptist to move into a first place tie with GLC at 4-1.

Hershey (0-5) is the league's last hope for (reverse) perfection. The Red Storm kept their winless season rolling by losing to Nelson Christian in Game 5.

Game 4 - An Unbeaten Crusade

Around the Super 6 through Game 4 - (1/3/10) ... Great Lakes Christian remained perfect on the season with a 77-43 beatdown of Hershey. Robbie Hummel's 18 points paced the 4-0 Crusaders, who lead the league in scoring, thanks in part to the emergence of David Lighty, the Super 6's top point producer ... There's a three-way tie for second place, with Oskee Wow-Wow, Nelson Christian and Superior Baptist each at 2-2. OWW got 27 points from John Shurna to turn back UNC, 64-53, while SBU nearly broke the century mark in a 98-68 whipping of RMU. Only a "Carlton McGee" zero-point performance by Laval Lucas-Perry kept Superior Baptist from cracking the 100-point plateau.

Game 5 schedule - (1/5 - 1/10)
GLC (4-0) @ RMU (2-2)
UH (0-4) @ UNC (2-2)
SBU (2-2) @ OWW (2-2)

The loss was RMU's second straight, marking the first time the Knights have dropped back-to-back games in forever ... Oskee Wow-Wow got 29 points from John Shurna to beat Hershey, 82-57.
