Nelson Christian earned the #2 seed and a first-round bye in the Super 6 Tournament with an 87-67 win over Great Lakes Christian in the regular season finale (2/14-2/19). Shannon Brown led the way with 26 points and Travis Parker added 18 in his first start of the season for the Doves, who will join Oskee Wow-Wow as spectators for the opening round of the tourney. OWW wrapped up its championship season by topping Superior Baptist, 79-38. Alando Tucker led all scorers with 27 points and claimed the individual scoring title as the top-seeded Warriors completed an 11-1 campaign ... Brian Randle scored 12 points in overtime to give Hershey its fourth straight win and the fourth seed, 70-58 over Robert Montgomery U. JJ Sullinger finished with 16 points to pace UH, while Robert Vaden and Brian Butch led the Knights with 17 points apiece. The game didn't mean much, because both teams knew they would be squaring off again in the first round of the Tournament this week.
Hail to Oskee Wow-Wow, the Super 6 Champions, again! The Warriors claimed their second consecutive regular season title with a 90-67 win over Great Lakes Christian in Game 11 (2/8-2/12). Alando Tucker scored 29 points and Vedran Vukusic added 26 as the Warriors became only the second team in Super 6 history to repeat as regular season champs. Nelson Christian pulled off the three-peat from 1996-1998. The championship is Oskee Wow-Wow's third since 2001. No other team has won more than one title over that time span ... Seeding for the upcoming Super 6 Tournament will be decided in the final week. Nelson Christian Christian beat Robert Montgomery U 54-49 to move back into a tie for second place tie with Great Lakes Christian at 7-4. GLC and UNC will square off in this week's season finale with a first round tourney bye on the line ... The other Super 6 race features a battle for the # 4 seed between Hershey and RMU. UH has won three straight, including a 58-39 win over SBU in Game 11. The Red Storm will face RMU this week.
Oskee Wow-Wow got back in the win column and clinched a share of the regular season championship with a 90-51 win over Robert Montgomery U in Game 10 (2/4). Vedran Vukusic threw in a game-high 23 points and Alando Tucker added 22 for the Warriors (9-1), who can claim the title outright in the front of the Oskee Wow-Wow fanatics this week when Great Lakes Christian comes to the House of Paign ... GLC (7-3) kept its hopes of a co-championship alive with a 72-56 win over Superior Baptist. Jekel Foster's 25 points and Geary Claxton's 20 overshadowed another strong game by Matt Kiefer (16 pts). An afterthought when the season began, Kiefer is averaging a team-leading 17 ppg a game during GLC's current three-game winning streak. Mo Ager (21 pts) and Rodrick Wilmont (14) led the way for SBU ... Here's the unexpected sentence of the season: Hershey is riding a winning streak. Jeff Horner scored 14 points as the Red Storm made it two straight, 54-52 over Nelson Christian. The win pulled UH (3-7) to within one game of fourth-place RMU. Shannon Brown's 22 points weren't enough to keep UNC from falling to 6-4 and out of title contention.
Where did that come from???? In the shocker of the year, Hershey upset Oskee Wow-Wow 93-60, ending the Warriors shot at a perfect season. Jeff Horner scored a career-high 32 points as the lowly Red Storm offense suddenly exploded to snap an 0-for-January losing streak. Alando Tucker had 19 points to lead the Warriors (8-1), who missed a chance to clinch at least a tie for the regular season title, although they still own a two-game lead with three to play ... Je'Kel Foster finished with 18 points to lead a balanced attack as Great Lakes Christian coasted past Robert Montgomery U, 78-43. Vincent Grier, Geary Claxton and Matt Kiefer added 17 points each for the 6-3 Crusaders ... Nelson Christian also moved to 6-3 on the year with a 50-26 win over Superior Baptist. Both teams were affected by MSU's bye, which left UNC without Paul Davis and Shannon Brown, and SBU minus Mo Ager and Drew Neitzel.
