Game 12- Title Trifecta
The third time's the charm for Robert Montgomery U and Great Lakes Christian, after each grabbed a share of the 2007/2008 regular season championship. RMU's freshmen tandem of 3'Twaun Moore and Manny Harris saved the best for last, scoring career-highs in the Game 12 title clincher over SBU. Moore poured in 28 points and Harris finished with 27 as the Knights (10-2) raised their third championship banner and extended their winning streak to 10 games, a new Super 6 record. The Knights will be the #1 seed in the Super 6 Tournament, which they hope to win for the first time.
Another frosh led Great Lakes Christian to its third overall title. Robbie Hummel, who became a starter when Geary Claxton went down for the season, responded to the challenge with a team-high 24 points in Game 12's win over UH. DJ White added 17 points to edge Eric Gordon for the individual Super 6 scoring title. It's the first championship for the Crusaders since 1999, when they also won the tournament trophy. As co-champs, RMU and GLC have first round byes when the Super 6 Tournament gets underway this week ... Oskee Wow-Wow wrapped up the regular season with a 54-44 win over UNC, lifting the Warriors (5-7) into third place, a major accomplishment considering their 1-4 start. Superior Baptist also finished at 5-7, (but lost the tiebreaker to OWW) and will be the #4 seed in the tourney. Hershey (4-8) is the #5 seed, and Nelson Christian (2-10) will be the sixth seed.
