Game 3 - Man Oh Manny!

RMU Knights 72, UNC Doves 66
Manny & the Knights keep reaching new heights! Manny Harris poured in 29 points as Robert Montgomery U rallied to beat Nelson Christian 72-66 in Game 3 (12/23-12/29), extending the Knights' regular season winning streak to 13. RMU had to earn this "W". They trailed by 6 points heading into Monday night's DeShawn Sims vs. Manny mano-a-mano matchup, and Harris responded with a POW effort to keep the streak alive. Sims finished with 17 for the Doves (0-3), who were led by Devan Dumes' 18 points. It's second time in three games that the underrated Dumes has paced the UNC offense.

SBU Crusaders 66, GLC Crusaders 63
While most of the talk (grumbling?) revolves around RMU's streak, Superior Baptist has quietly put together an impressive run of its own. Talor Battle scored a game-high 25 points as the Crusaders won their third straight, 66-63, over Great Lakes Christian. Lawrence Westbrook added 15 points to keep SBU tied with RMU atop the Super 6 standings. It was a bittersweet victory for SBU coach Brian Wellwood, who is a huge Spartan fan, and had to face GLC's MSU-laden lineup of Suton, Lucas and Morgan. Suton's 16 points paced GLC (1-2) in a tough luck loss.

OWW Warriors 66, UH Red Storm 53
Oskee Wow-wow took over sole possession of third place with a 66-53 win over Hershey. Demetri McCamey 20 points and Michael Thompson & John Shurna combined for 27 more as the Warriors improved to 2-1, just one game behind the co-leaders. It was a milestone game for the Red Storm, who had two starters reach double figures for the first time this season!

Game 2 - Christmas Baking & Gifts

RMU Knights 64, OWW Warriors 48
Robert Montgomery University's regular-season winning streak is at 12 and rising, after beating Oskee Wow-wow 64-48 in Game 2 (12/17-12/22). Kevin Coble and Manny Harris scored 15 points apiece to lead the Knights, while Evan Turner (21 points) was the only double-digit scorer for OWW (1-1). RMU will go for a Christmas baker's dozen when they travel to UNC this week.

SBU Crusaders 52, UH Red Storm 35
Superior Baptist got an early Christmas present - a game against Hershey - and took full advantage of Santa's scheduling generosity with a 52-35 victory. Jamelle Cornley scored 16 points and Mike Tisdale added 15 as the Crusaders upped their record to 2-0. Trent Meachem (15 pts) was the only respectable starter for the 0-2 Red Storm, who would rather give away wins than receive them.

GLC Crusaders 60, UNC Doves 58
In the tongue-twisting "Christian Christmas Classic", Great Lakes Christian beat U Nelson Christian, 60-58. Raymar Morgan had 26 points and was named Player Of The Week, the second straight week a GLC player has earned the honor. (Robbie Hummel was co-P.O.W. in Game 1). Hummel was solid again in Game 2, adding 18 points to help GLC get its first win of the season. DeShawn Sims led the Doves (0-2) with 20 points.

Game 1 - Talking Points

SBU Crusaders 76, UNC Doves 69
It's hard to overlook a seven-footer, but honestly ... who saw Mike Tisdale coming? The Illinois big fella stepped into the spotlight in the season opener, scoring 25 points to earn co-Player Of The Week honors (with GLC's Robbie Hummel) as Superior Baptist beat Nelson Christian, 76-69. Tisdale, a 4th round afterthought for the Crusaders last year, has suddenly become a big-time scoring threat - when he stays out of foul trouble. Tisdale's teammates added plenty of support, including 15 points from Jamelle Cornley. UNC kept it close thanks to a pair of 20-point performances by Chris Allen and Devan Dumes (in his Super 6 debut), but the Doves came up short when Blake Hoffarber missed the game with an ankle injury.

RMU Knights 81, UH Red Storm 35
Kevin Coble and Manny Harris could have beaten Hershey by themselves. Coble and Harris scored 22 points each as Robert Montgomery U coasted to an 81-35 victory over UH, extending RMU's regular season winning streak to 11 games dating back to last season. RMU frosh Tom Pritchard made a good first impression by scoring 15 for the Knights, who haven't dropped a regular season contest since December 2007. Trent Meachem (14 points) was the only UH starter to finish in double figures.

OWW Warriors 76 , GLC Crusaders 53
A last-minute lineup switch paid big dividends for Oskee Wow-wow. John Shurna got the start as the designated big man and responded with 20 points to lead OWW past Great Lakes Christian, 76-53. Shurna wasn't in the original starting lineup, but got the call because the Warriors needed a 6-8 guy on the floor. It'll be hard to keep Shurna off the floor now. Michael Thompson added 17 points to pace a balanced OWW attack. GLC had lineup troubles of their own, including a goose-egg from Stanley Pringle, who didn't play due to an ankle injury. Pringle was tabbed as a starter instead of Kalin Lucas, who finished with 16 points as the overtime player.

Super 6 Pack ... OWW freshman Anthony Tucker, the 4th overall selection on Signing Day, really celebrated his arrival in the Super 6. Tucker faces public intoxication charges after passing out in an alley behind an Iowa City bar. He's suspended indefinitely.

Ankle Breakers ... UNC's Blake Hoffarber missed the opener - and is questionable for Game 2 - with a sprained ankle. GLC's Stanley Pringle also missed Game 1 with an ankle injury, but he's expected to be ready for Game 2 this week.

Game 2 schedule - (12/17 - 12/22)
OWW (1-0) @ RMU (1-0)
UH (0-1) @ SBU (1-0)
UNC (0-1) @ GLC (0-1)
